Chapter 23. Preferences > Managing fonts in Windows and Mac

Managing fonts in Windows and Mac

In Mac OS X, fonts can be installed or removed manually by moving them in or out of any of the five recognized font folders (except for System) listed at left. The System recognizes folder hierarchies within its active font folders, but unlike earlier operating systems, it doesn't recognize aliases. Copies of stored fonts must be moved into active font folders in order to be recognized.

In Windows, fonts can be moved or in or out of the Fonts folder in the Windows folder.
