Chapter 23. Preferences > Color in QuarkXPress

Color in QuarkXPress

No CMS for Web layouts?

The Quark CMS preferences aren't accessible for Web layouts. According to Quark, Inc., this is because at the present time the monitors used by Web viewers don't have uniform standards for color definition, representation, or calibration. So for Web layouts, there wouldn't be any guidelines for choosing preferred or optimum settings in Quark CMS Preferences anyway.

Two kinds of color are used in Quark XPress projects: colors that are applied to items created within the application and colors that are saved in imported pictures. In the case of colors that are applied in QuarkXPress, the CMS generates color data based on either the monitor profile or the profile for the target output device. These item color profiles are assigned in QuarkXPress (Edit, in Window) > Preferences > Print Layout > Quark CMS.
