Using full resolution preview

In previous versions of QuarkXPress, when you placed a picture into a layout, the program displayed only a low-resolution preview . This was a practical necessity years ago, when the video-processing horsepower of computers was lower than it is today, and scrolling around a document containing multiple full-color images was painfully slow. There was a drawback to this system, however: if you scaled the picture up, or zoomed in on the picture in order to crop it just so, the image you saw on your screen turned into a blocky, pixellated mess .
