Chapter 11. Tools for Selecting > Selecting Multiple Objects

Selecting Multiple Objects

When selecting multiple objects, InDesign works almost identically to QuarkXPress. If you’re working with the Selection tool, you can select more than one frame or path by Shift-clicking; you’ll see the bounding boxes of each selected object. If you’re working with the Direct Selection tool, you can Shift-click to choose more than one anchor point in frames and paths. With either tool, to deselect an object or anchor point, just Shift-click again.

Dragging a marquee in InDesign also works similar to XPress. With the Selection tool, the marquee rectangle selects any objects whose shape falls within the marqueed area, no matter how little they are included. Marqueeing with the Direct Selection tool chooses any anchor points within the selection rectangle.
