Chapter 49. Setting Tabs > Right Indent Tab

Right Indent Tab

Both QuarkXPress and InDesign have a special character called the Right Indent Tab. When the character is typed in text, all the rest of the text on the line is aligned against the right edge of the frame (you don’t have to set a tab stop there). If you later change the frame’s width, the right indent tab automatically moves, too. You can insert this character by typing Shift-Tab or by choosing it from the Insert Special Character submenu (under the Type menu or in the context menu). However, unlike XPress, in InDesign the Right Indent Tab character can’t be used with a tab leader.
