The No Ascent Workaround

When you create an anchored box in XPress, you can select it and set whether the box aligns with the text’s ascent or baseline in the Modify dialog box, or on the Measurements palette. If you select Ascent, XPress automatically runs text around the object.

Unfortunately, InDesign doesn’t offer an ascent option, and there is also no way to set text wrap for an inline object. However, there is a workaround which, while not as easy as the XPress method, often works. Typically, you need this effect at the beginning of the paragraph (see Figure 69-1). You can create an ascent effect by using InDesign’s Drop Cap feature.
