Stacking Order

Both QuarkXPress and InDesign let you stack objects on top of each other in two ways: stacking order and layers (XPress 3 and 4 do not offer layers). We’ll discuss layers and the Layers palette in Chapter 24. Here we cover stacking order, the vertical arrangement of objects within a layer.

InDesign has the same four stacking commands for controlling the vertical order of page objects as in XPress (you can find these commands in the Arrange submenu, under the Object menu):
