Chapter 30. Creating and Applying Master... > Applying Master Pages to Document Pa...

Applying Master Pages to Document Pages

Applying a master page to a document page works similarly in both InDesign and QuarkXPress. You can drag a master page onto a document page (the page is highlighted), or you can drag a master over the numbers of a spread (an outline surrounds the spread to which you’re applying the master). You can also select one or more document pages (remember to Command/Ctrl-click to select discontiguous pages) and Option/Alt-click on the master page you want to apply. As in XPress, each document page in the Pages palette is marked with the prefix of the master page applied to it.

There’s one other way to apply a master page to document pages: Select Apply Master to Pages from the Pages palette flyout menu. InDesign lets you select a master to apply and a page range. For instance, you could apply B-Master to pages “2, 4-5, 11-16, 22”.
