Chapter 68. Clipping Paths > Editing a Clipping Path

Editing a Clipping Path

Both QuarkXPress and InDesign allow you to edit a clipping path which is imported or created. You might do this occasionally, for example, to perform a “quick fix” on a poorly created clipping path. In InDesign, in the anchor points of the clipping path appear whenever you select the image with the Direct Selection tool. You can then use any of the path-editing tools to edit a clipping path. If you open the Clipping Paths dialog box now, you’ll see the Type popup menu has changed to User-Modified Path.

InDesign has an advantage over QuarkXPress when editing clipping paths because you can turn on the High Quality Display choice on the View menu or the context menu to zoom in as you’re editing the path; XPress is limited to a low-resolution preview.
