Using the Checkout System

FrontPage’s checkout system offers a handy way to coordinate all the work being done on different files for your Web site. While a file is checked out, it cannot be changed by anyone else—a process known as source control. Others can read the last version of the file but cannot make any changes until the file is checked back in. When a file is checked back in, FrontPage saves any changes made to the file.

To activate the checkout system

1.
Choose Tools > Web Settings (Figure 15.51).

When the Web Settings dialog box appears, click the General tab and check Use document check-in and check-out (Figure 15.52).

Click OK and when the alert dialog box appears, click Yes (Figure 15.53). Checkout control will be applied to the Web site.
