Adding Form Fields

Whether you create a form from scratch or start with one of FrontPage’s form templates, it’s easy to add a variety of form fields to match your needs.

To add a text box

1.
Click in the form page where you want to add the field, typically next to text that identifies the field for users (Figure 12.10).

2.
Choose Insert > Form > Textbox (Figure 12.11).

3.

4.
When the Text Box Properties dialog box appears, FrontPage will have assigned the field an arbitrary name, such as T1 (Figure 12.13). Type in a distinctive name of your own which won’t be visible to site visitors.

5.
If you want some text to appear inside the one-line box, such as “Enter your name here,” type it into the Initial value text box

6.
Set how many characters wide you want the line to be and enter a number for the field’s tab order within the form.

7.
If the field will be used for a password choose Yes, otherwise leave it set to the default No. By the way, Style is used only if you’re building style sheets.

8.
If you want to define entry requirements for the field, click Validate For details, see Text Box Validation options.

9.
When you’re done, click OK and the properties will be applied to the one-line text field. To see how the field looks and decide if it needs adjustment, click FrontPage’s Preview tab.
