Creating Frames

Each frame you create can display a separate Web page. Whether you create those content pages before or after you create the frames themselves is up to you. Generally, however, it’s less confusing to at least rough out the content pages first, then create the frames that will contain them. At that point, it’s common to tweak the content for the frame. In creating frames and frames pages, sometimes it’s helpful to see just the content without any frames. For details, see To show a frame in a new window.

A frames page can contain as many frames as you like. Bear in mind, however, that each page and its content must be downloaded, increasing the potential wait for your visitors. Use FrontPage’s download progress indicator to gauge how long pages will take to appear on screen (see page 16).
