Tips

  • You also can retitle any page by right-clicking it and choosing Rename from the shortcut menu (Figure 3.8).

  • Contrary to what you might expect, changing the name of a page while in navigation view doesn’t rename the page file—just the page’s title. As long as you remain in the navigation pane, even selecting Rename in the shortcut menu only changes the page’s title—not its file name. Confusing? You bet. To really change the page’s file name, see To rename a Web page, on the next page.

  • If you ever get confused, FrontPage offers two quick ways to compare a Web page’s title to its file name. If you’re in navigation view, right-click the page icon, and choose Properties from the short cut menu (left, Figure 3.9). If you’re in page view, right-click anywhere in the page and choose Page Properties from the shortcut menu (right, Figure 3.9). When the properties dialog box opens, compare the file name in the Filename or Location text boxes with the name in the Title text window (Figure 3.10). If the title’s not what you intended it to be called, type a new title into the Title window. If the file name’s not correct, see To rename a Web page on the next page.

Figure 3.9. To check what a file’s really named, right-click within the page and choose Properties (left) or Page Properties (right) from the shortcut menu.

Figure 3.10. The Properties (top) or Page Properties (bottom) dialog boxes let you compare the file name (in the Filename or Location boxes) with the title (in the Title box).
