Part V: Appendix > Installing & Configuring FrontPage

Appendix A. Installing & Configuring FrontPage

It’s tempting to install FrontPage and immediately start building your Web site. But take a minute to configure how FrontPage handles HTML codes, and you’ll be assured that your Web site will be compatible with the Web browsers people use when they visit your site. If you just want to build Web pages and don’t need to run a Web server on your local machine, then FrontPage 2002 works fine with Windows 98 or later. If you plan on installing a FrontPage-enabled Web server on your local computer—essential if you want to check most of the program’s Web Components before publishing them to a remote Web server—you will need to be running Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 or later. Installing a local Web server, by the way, falls beyond the scope of this book.
