Chapter 6. Adding Hyperlinks > Using Hover Buttons

Using Hover Buttons

Through the use of what FrontPage calls hover buttons, it’s incredibly easy to add cool effects activated by your visitors’ mouse actions. You can have a button change appearance or even trigger sounds when the mouse hovers over the button. Essentially hover buttons trigger different kinds of links, which is why they’re discussed in this chapter.

To add a hover button

1.
Make sure you’re in page view by clicking the Page icon in the Views Bar. Also be sure the Normal tab is clicked at the bottom of the page window.

2.
Click where you want to add a hover button and choose Insert > Web Component (Figure 6.54).

3.
When the Insert Web Component dialog box appears, click Hover Button in the list labeled Choose an effect (Dynamic Effects will already be selected in the Component type list), and click Finish (Figure 6.55).

4.
When the Hover Button Properties dialog box appears, set your button’s text and font, its link, color, hover effect, and size (Figure 6.56). For details see Hover Button options on the next page.

5.
Once you’ve made your choices, click OK.

6.
Click the Preview tab at the bottom of the page window to see how the effect will appear whenever a browser’s cursor rolls over the button (Figure 6.57).
