Using the Character Palette

Character formatting refers to attributes that can be applied to a single character in a paragraph. The Character palette controls character attributes.

To work with the Character palette:

1.
If the Character palette is not visible, choose Type > Character. This opens the Character palette .

Click the Character palette tab to move it to the front of a set of tabbed palettes.

To change the Character palette from horizontal to vertical orientation, choose Vertical Palette from the Character palette pop-up menu .

Tip

InDesign 1.5 only has a vertical orientation.

3.
To display all the character formatting controls, choose Show Options from the Character palette pop-up menu.
