Chapter 12. OUTPUT > Setting Color Controls

Setting Color Controls

You may need to set the color controls to choose how color documents are printed.

To set the color controls:

1.
Choose File > Print.

2.
Click the Color tab (Win) or choose Color from the pop-up list (Mac) . This opens the Color section of the Print dialog box.

Choose Composite to print all the colors onto one page.

or

Choose Separations to print each color on its own plate.

Tip

Separations printed on a laser printer are commonly called paper separations and are used to make sure the proper number of plates will be printed by service bureau.

If you choose Separations, you can use the Screening list to set the frequency and angle for the halftone screens.

Use the Frequency and Angle fields to override the default halftone and screen angles.

If you choose Separations, you can choose each color and uncheck Print This Ink to prevent the color from being printed .

Tip

Use the Print All Inks and Print No Inks buttons to quickly turn on and off the settings for all the colors.

7.
If you have any spot colors in the document that you want to print as process color, click All to Process to convert them to process colors.
