Chapter 12. OUTPUT > Printing a Document

Printing a Document

When a document is printed, there are many different instructions that are sent to the printer. You need to set all those instructions correctly.

To print a document:

1.
Choose File > Print. This opens the Print dialog box for either Windows or Mac .

If necessary, set the following options:

  • Choose a printer as described on the following page.

  • Set the paper properties as described on page 224.

  • Set the graphics properties (Win) as described on page 225.

  • Set the PostScript and layout options (Mac) as described on page 226.

  • Set the page controls as described on page 227.

  • Set the color controls as described on page 228.

  • Set the page resizing controls as described on page 229.

  • Set the tiling as described on page 230.

  • Add any page marks as described on page 231.

    Tip

    You do not need to set all the controls every time you print unless you need to change a specific setting.

3.
Click OK (Win) or Print (Mac) to print the document.
