Linking Graphics

When you place an image, you do not actually place the image into the document. Only the screen preview of the image is incorporated as part of the file. In order to print the file, In Design needs to access the original graphic. This is called a link.

Tip

It is possible to link text files as well as graphics, but there are few practical advantages. (See "Links for Text Files" on the next page.)
