Using Clipping Paths

Images from programs such as Adobe Photoshop are rectangular. If you want to see only part of the image you import, you can create a clipping path that surrounds the part of the image that you want to see. The rest of the image becomes transparent.

Once you have assigned a clipping path to a graphic, you can use the clipping path within an InDesign file. The most versatile file format for working with clipping paths is EPS, Encapsulated PostScript file. The EPS format allows you to import a file with a built-in clipping path.
