Setting the Units and Increments Preferences

You can also set the preferences for what measurement units InDesign uses and the increments that settings are changed using the keyboard shortcuts. These are the Units and Increments Preferences.

To set the Units and Increments preferences:

1.
Choose Edit > Preferences > Units & Increments. This opens the Preferences dialog box with the Units & Increments options visible.

Choose an option for the origin of the ruler units. (For more information on working with text, see Chapter 2, "Document Setup")

3.
Choose a unit of measurement for the Horizontal and Vertical Ruler Units.

4.
In the Cursor Key field, choose the amount that the arrow keys should nudge objects.

5.
In the Size/Leading field, choose the amount that the type size and leading should be increased by the keyboard shortcuts.

6.
In the Baseline Shift field, choose the amount that the baseline shift should change by the keyboard shortcut.

7.
In the Kerning field, choose the amount that the kerning should be changed by the keyboard shortcut.
