Setting Composition Preferences

You can set the preferences for how text is composed and if violations of the composition settings are displayed.

To set the Composition Preferences:

1.
Choose Edit > Preferences > Composition. This opens the Preferences dialog box with the Composition options visible.

Set the controls for the Adobe Multi-line Composer. (For more information on composing text, see Chapter 10, "Advanced Text.")

Choose the Highlight options as follows:

  • Keep Violations highlights lines that have been broken in violation of the Keep With settings you have chosen for the paragraph options.

  • H&J Violations highlights those areas that have been set in violation of the hyphenation or justification controls .

    Figure 14.12. The highlighted text shows that the space between the words is an H&J Violation.

    Tip

    H&J violations occur when there is no other way to set the text except to break the H&J controls.

  • Substituted Fonts highlights those characters that are substituted for a font that is not installed in the computer system.
