To highlight text:

1.
Choose the Content tool.

2.
Press and drag over the text you want to highlight.

Use a fast-clicking method :

Number of clicks What gets highlighted
1 click Creates an insertion point
2 clicks on word A word (but not the space following it)
2 clicks between word and punctuation A word and the punctuation following it (but not the space following it)
3 clicks A line
4 clicks A paragraph
5 clicks A whole story (all the text in a box or in a series of linked boxes)

To highlight a whole story, click in a text box, then choose Edit menu > Select All (Ctrl-A). Hidden, overflow text, if any, will be included in the selection. Note: If the Item tool is selected when you choose Select All, all items on the currently displayed page or spread and surrounding pasteboard will become selected instead.

or

Click in a text box at the beginning of a text string, then Shift-click at the end of the text string.

or

To select from the current cursor position to the end of a story:Ctrl-Alt-Shift-down arrow. (See page 330 for more shortcuts.)

or

To select a series of words, double-click the first word, keep the mouse button down on the second click, then drag. Triple-click, then drag downward to highlight a series of lines.
