To make a text box transparent:

1.
Choose the Item or Content tool.

2.
Click on the text box that is to be on the top layer. If it's not on the top layer, choose Item menu > Bring to Front (F5).

Choose Item menu > Runaround (Ctrl-T).

Choose Type: None .

5.
Click OK or press Enter.

If the Colors palette isn't already open, choose View menu > Show Colors (F12).

7.
Click the Background color icon on the Colors palette .

8.
Click None . (Black with a 0% shade won't produce the desired result.) See the illustrations on next page.

Tip

To select an item that is behind another item without changing its layer, hold down Ctrl, Alt, Shift and click. Each click will select the next item behind in succession (more about this on page 125).
