To apply a frame to a text or picture box:

1.
Choose the Item or Content tool.

2.
Click on a box (Bézier or standard).

3.
Choose Item menu > Frame (Ctrl-B).

4.
Choose a preset width from the Width drop-down menu or enter a custom width in the Width field.

Choose a style from the Style drop-down menu. (To create a custom dashed or multi-line (striped) frame, see pages 169–170.)

6.
Choose a color from the Color drop-down menu.

7.
Choose a shade from the Shade drop-down menu or enter a percentage in the Shade field.

8.
Optional: To recolor the white areas in a multi-line or dashed style, choose a Gap: Color and Shade.

9.
Click Apply to preview, make any adjustments, then click OK or press Enter (illustrations on the next page).

Tip

Enter 0 in the Width field to remove a frame.


Tip

Enter a Text Inset greater than zero in Item > Modify > Text folder tab so the text won't touch the frame.
