Chapter 2. Startup > To save a new file:

To save a new file:

1.
Choose File menu > Save (Ctrl-S).

2.
The "File name" field will highlight automatically. Type a name for the document .

3.
On the "Save in" drop-down menu , double-click the drive in which you want to save the file, then open the desired folder . That drive and folder should appear in the "Save in" box (, next page).

Optional: Open a folder or sub-folder in which to save the file. Or, to create a new folder for the document, click the New Folder icon , enter a name, then press Enter.

Save frequently, or use Auto Save or Auto Backup (see sidebar at right). If your computer freezes, at least you can reopen the document with most of the latest changes.
