Chapter 10. Pictures and text > Pictures and text

Pictures and text

There are many ways to combine text and pictures in QuarkXPress. For example, a picture can be placed behind a text box that has a transparent background. Or text can wrap partly or completely around the irregular contours of a picture—even within the same column—or around the perimeter of a picture box.

Text can wrap around the outer bounding box of the picture itself or QuarkXPress can create an editable clipping path to control precisely which parts of a picture will or will not print. A clipping path can even be created from an embedded path or alpha channel that was saved with a picture in another application. You no longer have to drive yourself insane trying to prevent a picture's white background from printing!
