To prevent orphan and widow lines:

1.
Choose the Content tool.

2.
Click in a paragraph.

3.
Choose Style menu > Formats (Ctrl-Shift-F).

Check the Keep Lines Together box .

Click the All Lines in ¶ button to keep all the lines of a paragraph together. Use this for subheads or any other paragraphs that musn't be broken at all.

Click the Start button to turn on orphan and widow control. Enter "2" in the Start and End fields to ensure that no less than two lines of a paragraph are stranded at the bottom or top of a column, respectively.

Click OK or press Enter.

A format in which the first line of a paragraph is aligned flush left and the remaining lines are indented is called a hanging indent. Hanging indents can be used to make subheads, bullets, or other special text more prominent or to hang punctuation (see page 112). A hanging indent created using the Formats dialog box can be applied via a style sheet. To style bullets or other repetitive text, use a character style sheet.
