Chapter 5. Word Processing > Importing Text

Importing Text

More often than not, text is prepared in a word processor, then imported into a QuarkXPress document for final layout. The best way to get text into a text box in XPress is to import it using the Get Text command on the File menu. In order to access this command, you must have both a text box and the Content tool selected.

1.
Position the insertion point where you want the text to be brought into the text box.

2.
Choose Get Text from the File menu (Command-E).

3.
When the Get Text dialog box appears, select one of the files listed. It displays all the files that are in word-processing formats that QuarkXPress can import (see the next section, “What Filters Are, and How to Use Them”).

4.
Press Return, or click the Open button.
