Space Before and After

Not only can you place interline space with leading, you can add space between paragraphs using the Space Before and Space After controls. You can find both of these controls in the Paragraph Attributes dialog box (Command-Shift-F).

While it is entirely your prerogative to use both Space Before and Space After, you normally will only need to use one or the other. Think about it: If you add equal space before and after a paragraph, it doubles the amount of space between each paragraph. I almost always use Space Before, but whichever you use is fine.
