Image Maps

An image map is a graphic that contains multiple hotspots that add user interactivity, usually as hyperlinks to other pages. For example, you might have a simple map of the world, and want to direct people to different Web pages depending on where they click on the map. In order to make an image map in QuarkXPress, you must have the ImageMap XTension active in the XTensions folder. When it's active (it should be, unless someone has turned it off with XTension Manager), you'll see the Image Map tool at the top of the Web Tools palette.

Actually, there are three Image Map tools, each of which let you draw a different shape: a rectangle, a circle, and a Bézier box. To get a different tool, press and hold on the tool in the palette (see Figure 14-23).
