Hyperlinks

What is a Web page without links? Links let your users explore your site, jumping from Web page to Web page. You can also add links to files that your users can download, or you can add links to send an email. Links can also be added to take your users to another site all together.

About URLs

A hyperlink uses a URL to link you to somewhere. (URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, an awkward name but descriptive of what it stands for.) The URL provides a standard method of locating something on the Internet. You can think it as the linked item's address. The URL contains the method to access the item, the name of the server or domain, the directory path to the item, and the file name of the item. (It can also include a named anchor in the HTML document, but I'm not going to talk about that quite yet.) These items are separated in the URL by a delimiter such as a comma, a slash, a colon, or a number sign.
