Using Hexachrome Color

Back in Chapter 12, Color, I discussed Pantone's Hexachrome six-color system, which uses cyan, yellow, magenta, black, green, and orange to simulate many more colors than the normal four-color process system. However, color management is key to working in Hexachrome. In fact, you can only separate Hexachrome colors that you define in QuarkXPress under two conditions:

  • The QuarkCMS XTension must be activated.

  • You must have a Hexachrome profile selected as your target profile (see Figure A-5). You can select it either in the Color Management Preferences dialog box or on the Profiles tab of the Print dialog box (see “Color Management at Print Time,” below).
