Chapter 24. XML > To tag the content of a QuarkXPress file:

To tag the content of a QuarkXPress file:

1.
Open an XML document and the QuarkXPress file that you're going to use as the content source for that XML document.

2.
Choose the Item tool, click in a text box, then Cmd-drag/Ctrl-drag the box over an element name on the XML Tree . A + (plus) icon will display as you drag. Release the mouse when a rectangular selection frame appears around the element name. (For a picture box, see page 445.)

Figure 1. Cmd-drag/Ctrl-drag a text box onto the appropriate element name on the XML Tree. The first few words of content will display in the Content Preview panel.

The contents of the selected element will display in the Content field on the XML Workspace palette.

Note: If the element or attribute already contains text, then that existing text will be replaced by the newly-tagged text.

TIP

Tagged QuarkXPress text is enclosed within [ and ] brackets, which display when Invisibles are showing (View > Show Invisibles).
