To scale type using a dialog box:

1.
Choose the Content tool.

2.
Highlight the text to be scaled.

3.
Choose Style > Horizontal/Vertical Scale. The Scale field will highlight automatically.

For horizontal scaling, choose Scale: Horizontal, then enter a percentage between 25 and 99 to condense the type (make it narrower than normal) or a percentage between 101 and 400 to expand the type (make it wider than normal) . A Horizontal Scale percentage of 60%, for example, will condense type 40%. A Horizontal Scale percentage of 125% will expand type 25%.

Choose Scale: Vertical, then enter the desired percentage.

Note: You can scale type in one direction —horizontally or vertically (not both).

5.
Click Apply (Cmd-A/Alt-A), make any adjustments, then click OK .
