To input text:

1.
Choose the Content tool.

2.
Click in a text box (or click on a text path) to create an insertion point.

Keep the case open

Lower case characters can be converted into caps or small caps with a flick of a switch on the Measurements palette, but characters input with the Caps Lock key pressed can't be converted back to lowercase—so don't type with the Caps Lock key pressed down! (Unless you buy the Text Toolkit XTension by Visions Edge, Inc. and use its Text Conversion feature when you need it.)


3.
Start typing . Press Return/Enter whenever you want to begin a new paragraph.

TIP

Choose View > Show Invisibles (Cmd-I/Ctrl-I) to reveal paragraph returns, spaces, and other non-printing characters .


TIP

To move text inward from all sides of its box, choose Item > Modify, click the Text tab, then enter a Text Inset: All Edges value (click Apply to preview). To specify different values for each edge, click Text Inset: Multiple Insets, then change the Top, Left, Bottom, or Right values (see page 59). And remember, you can always move the text box downward on the page!
