You can save a copy of text from a QuarkXPress file in the ASCII format, the XPress Tags format, or any of a number of different word processing file formats. If you apply style sheets to text in QuarkXPress and then export the text in the Microsoft Word format, the style sheets will save with the file and will be usable in Word. You can save all the text in a story, or just a highlighted portion.

What might get stripped out

Text saved in the ASCII format will be stripped of all formatting. Text saved in a word processing application format may be stripped of some formatting. Text saved in the XPress Tags format will retain all formatting, but it will display the special codes that are used for formatting when viewed in a word processing application. To learn more about XPress Tags, see the QuarkXPress documentation or David Blatner's Real World QuarkXPress 5 (Peachpit Press).
