To make a text box see-through:

1.
Choose the Item or Content tool.

2.
Click the box that is to be in front. If it's not yet in front, choose Item > Bring to Front or move the item to a higher layer (see page 260).

Choose View > Show Colors (F12).

4.
Click the Background color icon on the Colors palette , then click None at the top of the list of colors . Don't select Black with a shade of 0%—you won't achieve transparency.

TIP

If the item below the text is so dark that the text is unreadable, switch gears and make the text white (see page 248).
