To prevent orphan and widow lines:

1.
Choose the Content tool.

2.
Click in a paragraph.

3.
Choose Style > Formats (Cmd-Shift-F/Ctrl-Shift-F).

Check Keep Lines Together .

Click All Lines in ¶ to keep all the lines of a paragraph together. Use this for subheads or any other paragraphs that musn't be broken at all.

Click Start to turn on orphan and widow control, then enter “2” (or even “3”) in the Start and End fields to ensure that no less than two lines of a paragraph are stranded at the bottom or top of a column, respectively.

Click OK.

A format in which the first line of a paragraph is aligned flush left and the remaining lines are indented is called a hanging indent. Hanging indents can be used to make subheads, bullets, or other special text more prominent or to hang punctuation (see page 120). A hanging indent that's created using the Formats dialog box can be applied via a style sheet.
