To recolor the background of table cells:

1.
Choose the Content tool.

2.
Click in one cell or Shift-click to select multiple cells.

3.
Use the Colors palette to apply a solid color (see page 249) or a blend (see page 255) .

Choose Item > Modify (Cmd-M/Ctrl-M), then click Cells. Choose colors via the Cell Color pop-up menu (and the Blend pop-up menu, too, if desired).

Quick coloring

Select the table with the Content tool, then drag a color swatch from the Colors palette over a table cell, gridline, or border segment. The color will be applied at the shade percentage of the last color that was applied to that table component. For example, if a cell has a shade of 40% Tangerine, and you drag Lemon Chiffon over that cell, Lemon Chiffon will replace Tangerine and will be applied at 40%. Option-drag/Alt-drag a color to apply it at full strength (100% shade), regardless of the percentage that was last applied to that component.
