Chapter 15. Color

Each file can contain up to 1,000 colors, and they appear on the Colors palette and in any dialog box where colors are chosen, such as Frame, Character Attributes, and Modify. Colors that are created when no files are open will be present in all subsequently created files. Colors that are created with a file open will save only with that file. Two basic methods are used for printing color: Spot color and process color, and both types can be used in the same file.

What can be recolored

  • Text characters

  • Text paths, with or without text

  • Pictures in some file formats

  • Lines

  • Frames

  • Paragraph rules

  • Gaps between dashes or stripes

  • Background of a text box, picture box, contentless box, or Web document

  • Table cells, gridlines, or border segments

  • Web hyperlinks (see page 324)
