Acknowledgments

Thanks to Dave Gainer, Clint Covington, Keith Fink, Mike Wachal, Bill Ramos, Richard Dickenson, Lucille Pan, all the other Microsoft Access product management and product support staff, and members of the Access Insiders group. Their collective contributions to the Access 2002 beta newsgroups and Access Insiders Roundtable were of invaluable assistance in the writing of this book.

Susan Sales Harkins, technical editor, thoroughly reviewed the manuscript for this book and tested the sample databases and other files on the CD-ROM. Susan is a consultant specializing in Microsoft Office and the author of Que's Using Microsoft Access 97 and Using Microsoft Access 2000. Her close attention to my lapses in the step-by-step examples of this book is very much appreciated. Dallas Releford also handled some of the technical editing chores. Dallas has tech-edited more than 60 computer books, and is a writer of computer books, novels, and short stories. Any errors and omissions in this book, however, rest on my shoulders.

Jenny Watson, senior acquisitions editor, made sure I didn't fall too far behind the manuscript submission and author review schedule. Marla Reece-Hall, development editor, made important contributions to the content and organization of this new edition. Copy editor Julie McNamee reworked my convoluted syntax and corrected my grammatical and spelling errors. Susan Moore, senior project editor, worked hard to make sure all the components of this and several previous editions flowed through the editing process and got to their final destination on time. Media developer Michael Hunter handled production of the accompanying CD-ROM.

Steven Gray and Rick Lievano, authors of Roger Jennings' Database Workshop: Microsoft Transaction Server 2.0, created the original version of the Oakmont.mdb database for the CD-ROM as a Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 database.
