Chapter 20. Using Access with Microsoft Excel > Using Excel as an OLE Server

Using Excel as an OLE Server

This section describes methods of creating links between data cells in OLE Object fields and worksheets created with Excel 2000. You can embed or link an Excel worksheet or graph as a bound or unbound OLE object. You can copy data from the OLE worksheet object to the Clipboard and then paste the data into a bound or unbound text box. The following sections provide examples of these techniques. The step-by-step examples in this section assume that you're familiar with the use of Excel 2000 or earlier.

Embedding a Conventional Excel Worksheet in a Form

You can embed an entire Excel worksheet in an unbound object frame by using the simple process that follows. In this case, the presentation of an Excel worksheet (or what you can display of the worksheet in a bound object frame) is the entire content of the worksheet. The examples for embedding an Excel worksheet in this and the following section use a sample stock price worksheet that contains several days of high, low, and close prices, plus trading volume data. The data is several years old.
