Chapter 29. Programming Combo and List B... > Dealing with Jet-Specific Functions ...

Dealing with Jet-Specific Functions in Migrating to ADP

Jet-specific functions such as CCur and Format, like PIVOT and TRANSFORM, don't have exact counterparts in Transact-SQL. The Jet SQL statement for the lstLineItems list box uses both CCur and Format in the calculated Extended column. The changes made to frmComboMSDE in the two preceding section are compatible with Transact-SQL. To test frmComboMSDE in your OrdersByProductAndCountry.adp project, do the following:

  1. Close the .mdb file and open OrdersByProductAndCountry.adp.

    Note

If you receive an error with 'qryDrillDown' in the message when opening the form, open the form's properties sheet, select the Line Items list, and delete the offending Row Source property text.

  2. Choose File, Get External Data, Import, and import frmComboMSDE to the project.

  3. Open frmComboMSDE and test various combinations of country and product, including (All), to verify that lstOrders fills correctly.

  4. Double-click an item in the Orders list. There are no items in the Line Items list because MSDE can't execute the Jet query.
