Chapter 7. Linking, Importing, and Expor... > Exporting Data from Access Tables

Exporting Data from Access Tables

You can export data contained in Access tables in any format you can use to import data, with the exception of Visual FoxPro files. The most common export operation with PC RDBMSs is the creation of mail-merge files, used with word processing applications and spreadsheet files. In most cases, you may want to export the result of a query, enabling you to select specific records to export rather than the entire contents of a file. Exporting tables created from action queries is discussed in Chapter 11.

Exporting Data Through the Windows Clipboard

If a Windows application is to use your exported data, the simplest method to export data is to copy the records you want to export to the Windows Clipboard and then paste the data into the other application. You can copy specific groups of contiguous records to the Clipboard by using the techniques described in Chapter 5, "Entering, Editing, and Validating Data in Tables."
