Administering Databases and Applications

Administering a multiuser database involves a number of duties besides adding and maintaining user accounts. A database administrator's most important duty is to ensure that periodic valid backup copies are made of database and system files. The database administrator's other responsibilities consist of routine database maintenance, periodic compacting of database files, and repairing databases.
