Using Command-Line Options to Open a Shared Database

Access provides a number of options that you can employ to customize how Access starts for each user. All users in a workgroup may share a common database, but you may want individual users to start Access with a different form. You can open a workgroup database automatically, execute a macro that opens a specific form, and supply a user name or password when you start Access by entering options on the command line that you use to start Access for each workgroup member, as in the following example:

d:\msa_path\msaccess.exe [n:\mdb_path\mdb_name.mdb]
 [/User user_name ][/Pwd pass_word ][/X macro_name]
 [/Ro ][/Excl ] [{/Profile user_profile|/Ini profile.ini}]
 [/Repair] [/Nostartup]
 [/Compact [target.mdb]] [/Convert target.mdb] [/Run-time]
 [/Wrkgrp w:\mdw_path\system.mdw] [/Cmd cmd_value]
