Understanding Access Projects 510 Creating an Access Project Upsizing an Access database to a SQL Server database is one way to set up an Access project. You can also create an Access project on your own. The steps you follow to create an Access project vary depending on whether you create a new SQL Server database when you initiate the project or you connect to a SQL Server database that's already set up. In this section, we'll explain how to set up a new Access project. In the first set of steps, we'll create an Access project without any existing data. Create a project with new data 1. 2. If you have any databases open in Access, close the databases. If Access isn't running, start Access. On the File menu, click New. In the New File task pane, click Project Using New Data. You'll see the File New Database dialog box, shown here, with a default file name (adp1.adp) sug- gested by Access:
