Sorting, Filtering, and Retrieving Data 222 3. The brackets indicate to Access that you've entered a parameter. When you run the query, you'll be prompted with an input box and can then enter the campaign you want to see. Click Query, Parameters. In the Query Parameters dialog box, shown here, you specify the data type so that Access recognizes what type of data to expect in the parameter. The data type should match the data type for the field for which you've entered the parameter. In this case, the data type is Text. You must enter the text of the parameter in the Parameters dialog box exactly as it's entered in the query design grid. (Although you don't need to include the brackets.)
