Chapter 19. Implementing Security > Creating Groups - Pg. 656

Implementing Security 656 13. 14. Access requires that you assign rights per object. If you were to apply permissions to the entire database, you would need to go through every object in the Object Name list and apply per- missions to every object in the Object Type list. You can also choose to apply permissions to all new objects that are created. This is why building permissions into your database at the very beginning can save you time over the course of your database development. For now, let's assign permissions to the table objects only. As an exercise, you can go through the rest of the objects on your own and assign the same permissions to them. With the ITRead group selected, make sure that Table is selected in the Object Type dropdown list. In the Object Name list, select all the table objects, as shown here. The easiest way to do this is to click the first item in the list, scroll down to the end of the list, hold down the Shift key, and click the last item.
